CP, aka Cold Process Soap is the art of combining a variety of skin loving oils and butters with sodium hydroxide. This combination causes a chemical reaction known as saponification. No external heat is applied, and once the saponification process is complete (usually 24-48 hours), the soap loaf is cut and then allowed to air “cure” so the remaining water content can evaporate, leading to a harder and longer lasting bar.
